The Town of Lyons, Colorado, is a Statutory Town in Boulder County, Colorado. The international airport of Lyons lies across the freeway at South Lyons, between Arvada and Wheatgrass, and the main thoroughfare is westbound on High Road, going past the popular Mount Evans Restaurant. The most notable landmark of the town is the Grand Canyon, which sits north of the town and offers scenic views for all its inhabitants. The western part of the Grand Canyon is open to hiking, mountain biking, and river rafting. In addition to the Grand Canyon, there are several other natural wonders of Colorado, including the Colorado National Monument, National Elk Refuge, and the Grand Canyon National Park. When you visit Lyons, Colorado, you will find that the climate is subpar in many of the surrounding areas, and this lack of availability of outdoor activities makes the town one of the best places to visit if you are looking for a little action in the sun. Lyons is also rich in history, with a number of Civil War artifacts scattered about. Most of these can be found inside the Old Town Square, which was originally built in 1867 when the town was formed out of an old fort and bridge. Today, you can wander through the streets and shops, sampling some authentic food and souvenirs from the bygone days of this Colorado town.
